About Us
Our History
The Surulere Baptist Church was founded in the year 1928 by the members of the Training Union of the Ijero Baptist Church. It was originally a preaching station with no special site of worship. Members moved from house to house for Sunday Worship. However, as the members increased, they selected the house of Late Pa. J. A. Cole at Ayilara Street as a steady site of worship.
At Surulere Baptist church, we are dedicated to fostering a passionate community that values connection, support, and growth. Our strong commitment to faith and service creates a welcoming environment where individuals and families can come together to find support, inspiration, and a sense of belonging. Join us as we journey together in faith, love, and service to others.
Our Journey
Discover what sets us apart – our unique qualities.
The continued growth of the members and the inconvenient atmosphere of a mill-house quickened the idea of having a Church building. Efforts were also made to buy land at other sites, but to no avail. Eventually, they succeeded in buying a land on which now stands the Church at 52/54 Ojuelegba Road, Surulere, Lagos.
